Africa TAO Quads
After-sale help
You've paid and the ride is home. This page is for the day it stops behaving: how a warranty claim runs, what's covered and what isn't, what assembly and servicing cost, and how to get a part for it.
If something goes wrong
Three steps, in this order. It's the same process whether the ride came off a courier pallet or you loaded it up here in Fairleads.
- 1
Message us first
WhatsApp your invoice number, a short description of what's happening and clear photos or a video. The detail is what lets us tell the fault from the fix before anything moves.
- 2
We review and reply
We read the photos, check the model and the cover that applies to it, and tell you the next step and roughly what it will cost.
- 3
Bring or send it in
Warranties are carry-in, so you bring the ride to us in Benoni or send it in. Please arrange with us before travelling or posting — an unannounced ride can't be booked into the queue.
What the warranty covers
Petrol models
- 4-stroke engines6 months
- 2-stroke engines30 days
Cover follows the engine type, so ask us to confirm the exact warranty for your ride before you buy — don't assume the whole vehicle carries the same cover.
Electric models
- Chargers60 days
- Batteries90 days
- Motors, switches, gauges and plugs6 months
Electric parts are covered piece by piece, and the battery cover is not the same as the battery's normal life.
Both kinds of ride
- Warranties are carry-in and cover normal recreational use only.
- The ride must be serviced and maintained on schedule as set out in its user manual, with proof of services kept.
- Commercial use — rentals, hire and business use — is not covered.
- Modifications can void the warranty, so speak to us before making changes.
Diagnosis fee
After the first 30 days, a labour fee applies to track down a fault: R 385 on small models and R 770 on large models. Parts the warranty covers are free — it's the labour of finding the fault that's charged.
Not covered
- Wear-and-tear parts: brakes, pads, cables, tyres, tubes, clutches, batteries, starter motors and pull starts.
- Abuse or stunt riding.
- Water or liquid damage, power surges and overcharged batteries.
- The wrong fuel or oil, or none at all.
- Incorrect assembly. Online purchases must be assembled by a qualified mechanic or bike shop.
- Courier costs for warranty items after the first 7 days.
Service, assembly & repairs
All work is done in store at our Benoni shop at R 300 an hour, quoted by model:
| Model | Time | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| 49cc models | 2 hours @ R 300 | R 600 |
| Mini electric bikes and quads | 2 hours @ R 300 | R 600 |
| TAO bikes and quads (110cc, 125cc) | 3 hours @ R 300 | R 900 |
| TAO bikes and quads (180cc or bigger) | 5 hours @ R 300 | R 1 500 |
| TAO go-karts (100cc) | 2 hours @ R 300 | R 600 |
| TAO go-karts (125cc–200cc) | 5 hours @ R 300 | R 1 500 |
- Every TAO ride arrives partly assembled in its box — the wheels, bars and controls still need fitting, and the assembly must be done properly for the warranty to stand.
- Assembly and repairs are done in store at our Benoni shop, and are quoted for rides collected here.
- Outside Gauteng, please have your ride assembled by a qualified mechanic or bike shop at your own cost.
Caring for your ride
Six habits from the workshop. A ride that's looked after keeps its cover, and most "faults" we see are a skipped service rather than a bad part.
Keep to the service schedule
Follow the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual and keep proof of every service. Routine inspections, oil changes and filter replacements are what keep a ride running.
Check the fluids
Engine oil, brake fluid and coolant levels want checking regularly and changing on the intervals in the manual. Old fluid is what corrodes an engine from the inside.
Look after the tyres
Check the pressure with a gauge against the PSI in your manual, inspect for wear, bulges or punctures, and rotate them as the manual recommends so they wear evenly.
Don't ignore the brakes
Watch the pad thickness, keep the brake fluid topped up, and have the system looked at if you hear a new noise or the braking feels different.
Keep the battery healthy
Clean the terminals and check the voltage now and then. Charge only for the time your manual gives — never overnight — and keep the battery out of direct sunlight in a ventilated spot. 90 days of cover won't undo a cooked cell.
Keep it clean
Wash your ride to shift dirt and grime, wax the plastic and paint to keep the sun off them, and deal with a rust spot or chip before it spreads.
Spare parts
We stock many common wear-and-tear parts; less common parts may need to be ordered. Tell us your model and the part you need and we'll check compatibility, availability and price before you pay anything.
Before you modify
A bigger exhaust, a different controller or an engine tweak can void the warranty outright. Ask us first and we'll tell you what's safe to change on your model.
Returns, exchanges and arrivals
Refunds run to 10 days and exchanges to 30 days, both with your invoice number; damage in transit must be reported within 7 days with photos. There's no return form to fill in — WhatsApp us your invoice number, the reason and photos, and we'll take it from there. The full terms sit under the warranty question on our Questions & Answers page.
